Topic
Introducing the ADO.NET Entity Framework
Abstract
Join me for a “Demonstration Oriented” Developers Overview of the ADO.NET Entity Framework 1.0, Microsoft’s new Object Relational Mapping (ORM) tool and technology (BETA 1 just released this week!).
If you believe strongly in the tenets of Object Oriented Programming and Design (OOP/OOD), then you are probably familiar with building your own “Data Access Layer (DAL)” that sits between your business logic and the data-tier (your database), and having to build/maintain/support that code. An example of this approach is the Microsoft Enterprise Libraries: Data Access Block.
This presentation will show you where Microsoft is going with the first release (currently in Beta) of a product that allows you to connect to any data-source, using an extensible graphical modeling tool (inside of Visual Studio 208). In the demonstration, I will show how to create an Entity Model, query it (with LINQ to Entities and Entity SQL) as well as comparing and contrasting it to the traditional ADO.NET Model.
Attend this event for your chance to win an Xbox 360

Xbox 360 will be raffled at the conclusion of the dinner.
